How mixing inorganic ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium oxide that reflect or scatter ultraviolet (UV) radiation and then mixing it with organic ingredients like (OMC) octyl methoxycinnamate - an endocrine disruptor with estrogenic activity, and oxybenzone - also known as Benzophenone-3, can be good for the body is beyond me.

Oxybenzone just by itself has been linked to a myriad of health ailments including allergies and again, hormone disruption. There are numerous studies confirming this physically, but one must surely "awaken the senses and feel the suffocation experienced by the biggest breathing organ of the body - the skin". How using products that contain these ingredients is good for the body is surely beyond belief.

As you can gather, I am not an avid supporter of sun screens, particularly when they are excessively or routinely used on children. Much confusion and damage can be felt by the body when the body's natural ability to absorb Vitamin D (the vitamin we receive when we are bathed in sunshine) is blocked. This disruption to the body's natural response to "absorb light - light living" promotes by association, the increasingly growing symptom we commonly call depression "dark living".

The best sunscreen to use is literally Common Sense!!!

Wearing a thin cotton or hemp shirt that covers the skin, a wide-brimmed hat, and staying out of the sun during the hottest times of the day is the worlds best sunscreen... It's common sense, not rocket science!

If by some chance there was a desire to get that beautiful golden tan that helps the body radiate a lighter side of glowing health, set your Vitamin D absorption clock to the morning or late afternoon hours when the suns ultraviolet rays are at a minimum.

To make your own suntan oil that helps nourish your skin whilst you are absorbing the suns rays, add 4000mg of Vitamin E oil and 100,000IU of Vitamin A oil to 100ml of pure Jojoba oil. This will help to prevent the cross linking of collagen that can lead to skin damage.

I personally take up to 6 Megahydrate capsules (I open a couple of capsules and put the contents into my water bottle as well) whilst I am in the sun and hydrate my body with plenty of water. There is no doubt that this practice helps my body repair any potential damage from free radicals caused by stress or excess ultraviolet light.

By the way, I drink smaller amounts more regularly rather than a big drink irregularly. A couple of mouthfuls every 10 or 15 minutes.

The giving to yourself of good water, sunshine and the fruits of the soil, will return to you both physical and spiritual wealth.

Brett J. It's the act of inspiring others with renewed courage, spirit, or hope. When we encourage others we spur them on, we stimulate and affirm them.

I do not care how influential or secure or mature a person may appear to be, genuine encouragement never fails to help. Most of us need massive doses of it as we slug it out in the trenches. But we are usually too proud to admit it. Unfortunately, this pride is as prevalent among members of God's family as it is on the streets of the world.

It is helpful to remember the distinction between appreciation and affirmation. We appreciate what a person does, but we affirm who a person is. Appreciation comes and goes because it is usually related to something someone accomplishes. Affirmation goes deeper. It is directed to the person himself or herself. While encouragement would encompass both, the rarer of the two is affirmation.

All of us need encouragement---somebody to believe in us. To reassure and reinforce us. To help us pick up the pieces and go on. To provide us with increased determination in spite of the odds.

Brett J. But usually, without being aware of it, we try to change something other than ourselves; we try to order things outside us.

But it is impossible to organise things if you yourself are not in order. When you do things in the right way, at the right time, everything else will be organised.

Shunryu Suzuki (Japanese Zen Master)

Life isn't about finding yourself.

Life is about creating yourself. .

Brett J. How many of your friends had allergies, how many had asthma, how many were over weight? Not that many if you can remember one at all. So what's changed?

Well two things immediately come to mind.

One - Environmental toxins in the form of heavy metals and pesticides.

Two - The Birth of the Fridge!

And you would probably answer, "the heavy metals and pesticides I can understand but the fridge! The fridge has been around for more than 30 years." But what hasn't been around for that long is what we put into the fridge.

You see 50 years ago - 100 years ago we ate lots food grown in our own gardens (pesticide free). And we couldn't slaughter a cow, sheep, or pig every day. For one, how do you store it and secondly, how do you eat that much flesh?

In a nut shell, people in today's world are eating too much refined foods (grown with too many pesticides in mineral deficient soils) and too much meat. Let's take the meat bit for example. Before the fridge came about the only way you could store meat was to salt it. Beef jerky etc. If you've ever tasted beef jerky you would know that beef jerky doesn't taste that good (you wouldn't want to eat it everyday). But what was good about the beef jerky was the way it was preserved. It was preserved with unrefined salt.

One of the main reasons our diet is having such a detrimental effect on the vitality and health of the modern day human body is unfortunately, the by product of eating too much meat. This by product is the accumulation of acids; but when you include unrefined salt with the meat (such as the beef jerky), the salt helps the body maintain a healthy alkaline state. You see sodium, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium are all alkaline buffers. No salts - the body doesn't get its alkaline buffers and becomes more acidic. And as a result of this acidic build up, the body goes into survival mode. What does the body do when it goes into survival mode?

The body must create fat to store the acidic and toxic build up. The simplistic reason for this is the body must protect the vital organs! The vital organs cannot deal with poisons, they have enough work to do keeping the body vital. So what to do about it?

First of all have a read of Thinking Vitality - Think COWS.
http://www.vitalityplusaustralia.com/news.asp?id=223

Then test your pH levels.
http://www.vitalityplusaustralia.com/products.asp?id=29

Then check the water you drink. Check the tap water. Check the water that comes out of your filter. Check the bottled water you drink. How acidic is it really?
http://www.vitalityplusaustralia.com/products.asp?id=75

And most definately, CLEAR YOUR BODY OF HEAVY METALS AND TOXINS. Working for them has proven to be an interesting experience. Any project here takes 2 years to be finalised, even if the idea is simple and brilliant. It's a rule.

The Globalizing processes have caused in us (all over the world) a general sense of searching for immediate results. Therefore, we have come to posses a need to see immediate results. This contrasts greatly with the slow movements of the Swedish. They, on the other hand, debate, discuss, hold x quantity of meetings and work with a slowdown scheme. At the end, this always yields better results.

To note...
1. Sweden is about the size of San Pablo, a state in Brazil.
2. Sweden has 2 million inhabitants.
3. Stockholm, has 500,000 people.
4. Volvo, Escania, Ericsson, Electrolux, Nokia are some of its renowned companies. Volvo supplies the NASA.

The first time I was in Sweden, one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, bit cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their car to work). The first day, I didn't say anything, either the second or third. One morning I asked, "Do you have a fixed parking space? I've noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot." To which he replied, "Since we're here early we'll have time to walk, and whoever gets in late will be late and need a place closer to the door. Don't you think? Imagine my face.

Nowadays, there's a movement in Europe name Slow Food. This movement establishes that people should eat and drink slowly, with enough time to taste their food, spend time with the family, friends, without rushing. Slow Food is against its counterpart: the spirit of Fast Food and what it stands for as a lifestyle. Slow Food is the basis for a bigger movement called Slow Europe, as mentioned by Business Week.

Basically, the movement questions the sense of "hurry" and "craziness" generated by globalization, fuelled by the desire of "having in quantity" (life status) versus "having with quality", "life quality" or the "quality of being". French people, even though they work 35 hours per week, are more productive than Americans or British. Germans have established 28.8 hour workweeks and have seen their productivity been driven up by 20%. This slow attitude has brought forth the US's attention, pupils of the fast and the "do it now!"

This no-rush attitude doesn't represent doing less or having a lower productivity. It means working and doing things with greater quality, productivity, perfection, with attention to detail and less stress. It means re-establishing family values, friends, free and leisure time. Taking the "now", present and concrete, versus the "global", undefined and anonymous. It means taking humans' essential values, the simplicity ofliving.

It stands for a less coercive work environment, more happy, lighter and more productive where humans enjoy doing what they know best how to do. It's time to stop and think on how companies need to develop serious quality with no-rush that will increase productivity and the quality of products and services, without losing the essence of spirit.

In the movie, Scent of a Woman, there's a scene where Al Pacino asks a girl to dance and she replies, "I can't, my boyfriend will be here any minute now". To which Al responds, "A life is lived in an instant". Then they dance to a tango.

Many of us live our lives running behind time, but we only reach it when we die of a heart attack or in a car accident rushing to be on time. Others are so anxious of living the future that they forget to live the present, which is the only time that truly exists. We all have equal time throughout the world. No one has more or less. The difference lies in how each one of us does with our time. We need to live each moment.

As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".

Brett J. This information is being circulated at the Walter Reed Army Medical Centre as well.

1. NO PLASTIC CONTAINERS IN MICROWAVE.

2. NO WATER BOTTLES IN FREEZER.

3. NO PLASTIC WRAP IN MICROWAVE.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of your body. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.

Dioxin chemicals have been linked to the growth of cancer, especially breast cancer.

Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked; the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually permeate out of the plastic wrap and drip onto the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

And remember... the greatest health regime you can do for your body is to include a high intake of RAW FRUIT AND VEGETABLES. One of the main reasons for this (apart from the digestive enzymes, vitamins and minerals etc. etc.) is raw fruit and vegetables are the most naturally occuring sources of negatively ionised hydrogen. The moment you heat fruit and vegetables the hydrogen content is lost (as the negatively ionised hydrogen is absorbed by the heat), leaving your body out in the cold.

Please feel free to contact me any time for more information.

With your health and vitality in mind,

Brett J. Seriously.. Please read:

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a friendly gathering, a middle-aged lady stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm, Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNISING A STROKE

Thank "The Creator" for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Remember!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S - Ask the individual to SMILE.

T - Ask the person to TALK ... to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (ie. . It is sunny out today).

R - Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

{NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue... if the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke}

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, dial "000" or what ever your emergency number is immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

With your health in mind,

B.j.

Brett J. by Sam Walter Foss (1858 - 1911)

One day, through the primeval wood,
A calf walked home, as good calves should;

II.
But made a trail all bent askew,
A crooked trail as all calves do.
Since then two hundred years have fled,
And, I infer, the calf is dead.
But still he left behind his trail,
And thereby hangs my moral tale.
The trail was taken up next day,
By a lone dog that passed that way.
And then a wise bell-wether sheep,
Pursued the trail o'er vale and steep;
And drew the flock behind him too,
As good bell-wethers always do.
And from that day, o'er hill and glade,
Through those old woods a path was made.

III.
And many men wound in and out,
And dodged, and turned, and bent about;
And uttered words of righteous wrath,
Because 'twas such a crooked path.
But still they followed - do not laugh - The first migrations of that calf.
And through this winding wood-way stalked,
Because he wobbled when he walked.

IV.
This forest path became a lane,
That bent, and turned, and turned again.
This crooked lane became a road.
Where many a poor horse with load,
Toiled on beneath the burning sun,
And traveled some three miles in one
And thus a century and a half,
They trod the footsteps of that calf.

V.
The years passed on in swiftness fleet,
The road became a village street;
And this, before men were aware,
A city's crowded thoroughfare;
And soon the central street was this,
Of a renowned metropolis;
And men two centuries and a half,
Trod in the footsteps of that calf.

VI.
Each day a hundred thousand rout,
Followed the zigzag calf about;
And o'er his crooked journey went,
The traffic of a continent.
A hundred thousand men were led,
By one calf near three centuries dead.
They followed still his crooked way,
And lost one hundred years a day;
For thus such reverence is lent,
To well established precedent.

VII.
A moral lesson this might teach,
Were I ordained and called to preach;
For men are prone to go it blind,
Along the calf-paths of the mind;
And work away from sun to sun,
To do what other men have done.
They follow in the beaten track,
And out and in, and forth and back,
And still their devious course pursue,
To keep the path that others do.
But how the wise old wood gods laugh,
Who saw the first primeval calf!
Ah! Many things this tale might teach -
But I am not ordained to preach.

Brett J. And do your actions match your words? Does the following sequence of events sound familiar...?

A great idea germinates in your head, and you get so excited with your new fledgling vision, you blurt this goal out to all those around you.

What does this do? It has a definate tendency to raise everyone’s expectations of you performing.

You, by then placing an over enthusiastic date for completion (and sharing this unnecessary time-restraint) of the said goal, put inappropriatly-positioned negative pressure on yourself, that then drains energy that should have been used for the completion of your goal.

You then begin to lose faith in your ability, and the faith you have the energy to complete your visioned goal. Others sense your lack of faith and they too begin to lose faith, and unfortunately, as it is with human nature, it can take a long time to rebuild respect and trust.

All of this ultimately hinders your ability to return to the positive side of the track, because you are still engaged in the activity (or lack of activity) which caused the problem in the first place. Letting your words, take the place of your action.

One way to overcome this problem and support the progress of being great (rather than wanting to be great), is to keep the goal to your self and accomplish it in small steps.

Reward yourself as you make progress but don't tell anyone about it. As you get closer to your goal, and you achieve more success, people will start to notice a difference, but don't tell them anything yet. Only when you have accomplished what you set out to do, do you let the fire out of the hatch.

When we suppress the urgency to tell others our goals, we are actually harnessing and focusing the creative fires within on the goal, rather than sharing our inner fire with others before it has even had a chance to ignite. When you harness the fire, you have a powerful tool that creates more energy and warms the desire to accomplish what we set out to do.

The only thing that separates the successful from the unsuccessful is POSITIVE FOCUSED ACTION.

Then let the results of your creative work do the talking for you.

B.j

Brett J. Resistance is expressed as fear or judgement. You do no service to those who suffer by bringing your vibration down, in empathy or sympathy, to meet theirs, in a place of resistance.
Allowing the free flow of the life force through you raises your vibration. This is expressed in allowing and gratitude, and felt as love and joy. We achieve this flow by honouring the creations of ourselves and others.

The most positive and effective thing you can do to influence events that you are not in a position to interact with directly is to engage your compassion, and to allow a space for those whose suffering you would relieve to come and meet you energetically at a higher level of vibration.
We do this most effectively by allowing each one to have their experience and to bless it and them.

We do not always, at any given level of consciousness, have the vision to be in a position to judge any person or situation. We do not know or see the bigger picture, or how the circumstances we are witnessing came into being; we do not always know or how events might be seen from another perspective or higher level. Much is taking place in all our lives, at many levels, to clear old dense energies so that we can come into our power by saying ENOUGH! To those who oppress us; so that we can release our passion and take charge of our own creations. Often the path leads us through anger and grief and apparent loss. All this is being played out on the planet at the moment. All this is necessary, here and now, on the path through balance and beyond, to Clarity, to Sovereignty.

We are all seeking our divinity in the best way we know how! And we serve best by Allowing, by opening ourselves to the fullest flow of Light through our bodies that we are capable of in any moment; by consistently expanding our capacity to accept and to love, to flow out and to receive. We are in bodies in order to learn how to bring spirit & matter fully together as one. We facilitate this by holding the highest vision, love and compassion for all others in our hearts.

This exercise (a strengthening, empowering practice to acquire or expand skill, knowledge, virtue, grace, etc.) is done from the perspective of your witnessing consciousness, of your higher self; of that part of you that knows that you are not your thoughts, your feelings, or your body and observes that you have those tools and express yourself through them.

· Bless the victim. Simply open to your compassion and bless them, and what you’re witnessing.

· Bless the perpetrator. You are not being asked to approve, or condone in any way: just accept that you being asked not to judge.

· Bless yourself as the witness, and bless all others who also witnessed this. This is important in letting the energy flow through you.

Use the blessing as you watch TV or in other situations. If you’ve witnessed something lately that has upset or disturbed you; close your eyes, remember the event, and apply the blessing.
Then revisit your remembering. Does it feel different? You just made that change in the energy flow of the world. Remember that everything that is done consciously is worth a million that are done in ignorance. At that rate we only need 66,000 fully conscious, fully responsible souls on the planet to create the New World! Go for it!

With love & many blessings, Shely Tae’En © 2006

Brett J. He was looking for a self-treatment style of approach to healing a long-lasting and disabling injury he sustained when he snapped his achilles tendon about 12 years ago. This resulted in numerous surgical operations and much scar tissue.

Well Pat, as you well know, from pages 72 – 84 of the Tri-Breath book, there are 18 or so photo’s illustrating four ripper techniques that are just what the doctor ordered to heal sore and damaged knees and achilles tendon injuries. All using the simplicity of a tube, or a large smooth stick, or a rolled up newspaper etc. For specific techniques to isolate and focus the healing on where the soleus muscle (still using the tube) and the gastrocnemius meet, here’s how you do it.

Still sitting on your knees, place the tube across both legs right here. With your hands placed just to the side of your knees for balance, and maintaining a nice straight posture, slowly lower the weight of your body down (compressing the tube in-between the calf’s and the back of the thighs).

Gently using your bottom like the boom on a boat, and moving mm at a time, travel as far as your calf muscles will let you to the right, then, still staying focussed on your breath, slowly and gently move back to the centre, continuing all the way to the left. Again, as far as your calf muscles and soleus will allow.

Remember to use your voice and gently moan and groan a plenty. Breathing and toning gives the pain “a way of releasing” itself from the body. Try it, it works!!!
Using this type of compressive technique will bring blood to the area, breaking up old scar tissue that occurs as a result of any ligamental or muscular tear. Follow up with some kelp or horeradish liniment (also in the Tri-Breath book) and regular Epsom salt baths, maintain a regular stretching regime (only stretch a warm body), eat lot’s of hydrogen and magnesium rich watery foods (keeping the body alkaline, cutting down on acid rich foods), and Bob’s your Uncle!!!

Many thanks to the University of Washington whose permission to use the musculoskeletal images has helped me and many others achieve a greater awarness and understanding of the human body. Cheers guys! You do great work!

Brett J. Arthur’s way or Marther's way. A Tri-Breather emailed me asking for “light to be shed” on such a situation. As a lover of walking and running, he had read on a running web site that breathing in and out through the mouth is the proper technique.

Well I can guarantee you this. This is only true for a mere minuscule percent of the human family; for a minuscule amount of time that they breathe. For example…People who perform very quick bursts of acceleration over very short distances – e.g. one hundred metre sprinters.

Certainly not the sort of information that is factual and pertinent, where 99.999% of the general public is concerned. And where the sprinters are concerned for that matter, when they’re not sprinting!

Two of the reasons why is this… It is important that we breathe through the nose, because during its passage this way, the air is warmed, moistened, and filtered of harmful bacteria. The scroll-like turbinate bones (situated behind the nose) are covered with a mucous membrane, impregnated with blood vessels and mucous glands. Expecting your body to perform consistently in our modern environment without filtering the air you breathe in, is leaving the door wide-open for trouble down the road.

The mucous membranes covering the turbinate bones create mucous so you can blow what the air-filtering system collects out, protecting your body from illness. Stabilising and warming the temperature of the air you breathe-in also improves the lungs ability to absorb the oxygen. The way it works is not rocket science, the way it was created to work – incredible, awesome - words cannot describe!

So visualise and know your breath is ENERGY –Implosive and Explosive energy. Breathe through your nose; breathe out through your mouth if it is more comfortable. Stay conscious of your breath and stay strong.

Brett J. Many thanks for the question Mary.

Well contrary to popular belief, people don’t die of heart disease, cancer, tuberculosis, syphilis or any other disease. People die because their batteries are flat. And the kidneys literally are, your “body’s battery”. If there is no power in the batteries, there is no power to pump (the heart is your pump) blood around your body. Thus the great truth in the ancient saying “Blood is Life!”

In Chinese medicine, this kidney power is called kidney chi. For those of you who are interested in further extending your battery life, I have published 10 ancient kidney restorative exercises (with many a tonic recipe using easy to access natural products) in the Sexual Health for Men e-book. All exercises can be practiced by women though one may be a bit messy due to anatomical differences.

By consciously using the most powerful of all the mental processes, the creative imagination, and distributing your own self-generated white light (while practicing the 3-step, the 5-step or the 7-step) down to the soles of your feet, you activate a major pressure point. This major point on the soles of the feet is related to the kidneys and called Yang Chuan or Kidney 1.

The “Bubbling Spring” as it is sometimes known, or the “Spring-of-Life”, rightfully owns its name. Everybody knows that when your feet are sore, there is no spring in the legs, the body, or your mind for that matter. The healing potential of vitalising this energy meridian is associated with coughs, vomiting, asthma, dryness of the tongue, and pains in the lumber region.

So keep on sending that light down there Mary and CHARGE-UP! Hope this answered your questions.

Brett J. And along comes this from a reasonably credible source. Scientific research has now confirmed a much needed ingredient to longevity is positive thinking.

A Mayo Clinic study that spanned three decades recently released these stunning results. Researchers found that optimistic people live about 19 percent longer than pessimists. So, if you’re a pessimist and live to the age of 67 you’re loosing out on almost 13 years. The chances are very good with a positive attitude you could have lived until the age of 80!

“It’s confirmed our common-sense belief,” is what Toshihiko Maruta, a lead researcher in the project said. “It tells us that mind and body are integrally linked and that ATTITUDE has an impact on the FINAL outcome, death.”

They looked at 839 people for 30 years. Now that’s a pretty in depth study. Plus, it’s well known that pessimism can be changed. The way you think can disrupt and dispel disease, but the process must be aided by the power to visualise, and also by a capacity to handle light substance.

Personally, when I am confronted by negative thoughts about situations out of my immediate control, I practice replacing it with “I am one with life, I am holy” as quick as I can. The more you practice the quicker you can replace negative with positive.

It also confirms another old saying, “Smile for Health”. Looking at the energy channels (the meridians) of the body, all the related major organs of digestion, are in close proximity to the temporomandibular joint (the jaw muscles) –the stomach, the liver, the gall bladder and the small intestine. When you smile heaps, you gently stimulate these areas, improving digestion and “wallah –as the ancient statement states, “It’s not what you eat it’s what you absorb”.

So stay conscious of your breathing rhythm and equally distribute your implosive and explosive energy (Tri-Breath™) when you exercise, eat lots of raw fruit and vegetables to get that hydrogen into you, then rest well knowing that vitality and health are always with you.

Now there’s POSITIVE food for thought.

Brett J. I was teaching a group of sportsman the Tri-Breath breathing exercises when one burley, gruff member of the team decided to take centre stage and blurted out, “I’m not dead so I must be breathing right!” He laughed as he walked to the back of the group (limping on the right leg I might add) and started to show his character (or lack of) by being disruptive, until one of his mates told him to “expletively” dry up.

It made me think. Why is it that some people deny themselves knowledge and improvement?

As it so often does the answer came the next morning as I was going for a “breathe” or what most people call a gentle morning run. As all Tri-Breathers know, the balanced rhythm of the breath takes you so far out there it gives your brain space to communicate with your higher self.

Generally in life we are given two paths or two choices in every situation that is presented before us. One choice is to be like a leaf floating on a river, being taken downstream wherever the river wishes to take us. Without a river, the leaf would just fall from the tree, sit on the ground and wait to slowly disintegrate.

The other choice is to be like a river.

The power of the river is in its movement. It’s a flow that is harnessed from within, and it is the force of this movement that shapes its surrounding environment. From the mountain to the sea, the river draws unto itself that which is used to give life to both it-self and to the many it meets and feeds along the way.

By drawing knowledge to ourselves we intuitively power-up our being, giving us the strength to shape our environment. And it is our desire to improve ourselves (on both conscious and subconscious levels) that feeds and fuels all of those around us. A great teacher put it this way...

"Only truth that is individually wrought out in the crucible of experience really penetrates into the living consciousness and ultimately bears fruit". D.K.

All because I went for a gentle morning run.

Brett J. Asking how she was going with it, she replied, “It’s changed my life! I never realised how often I held my breath. By staying in contact with my breathing rhythm, particularly the 5-step when I walk or go for a gentle jog, I don’t feel like talking anymore because I like the space I go into. I feel I can really feel me and be with me. It’s not easy to describe. And I’m sure my eyesight has improved.”

This came to no surprise to me. Did you know that the visual system - the eyes, nerves, muscles and processing centres in the brain - consume over 30% of the oxygen we breathe?

When your well practiced at holding your breath, or you know your breathing is shallow, you're carrying unnecessary tension and hindering the oxygen supply and circulation to your visual system. And you're probably straining to see, perhaps unconsciously.

Ask yourself regularly, “Am I breathing?”

Just like there are techniques for building, sewing, healing, arts and crafts, there are techniques for breathing. The Tri-Breath techniques are specifically designed to improve the way you distribute implosive (inhalation) energy and explosive (exhalation) energy.

BALANCE is the operative word.

Breathe with balance in mind when you walk, run, paddle, surf, push a pram, ride a bike, climb a mountain and you will realise (see with your real eyes) how much more there is out there.

Give yourself the gift, you deserve it!

Brett J. Today we focus on ways to get better sleep.

Research now shows that most westerners in high pressure lifestyles are chronically sleep deprived. Sleep deprivation causes stress and stress is a major health problem! If the body and mind aren’t given the chance to regenerate, how can we become, or even retain our vital nature?

GET BETTER SLEEP

1. Take baths not showers: A bath 30 minutes before going to bed improves sleep, say researchers at the University of Texas.

2. Get into good habits: Go to bed at relatively the same time every day. If you aren’t able to relax enough and be asleep within 30 minutes, get up, walk around slowly, gently breathing in and out through the nose. When you feel sleepy; return to bed. Ensure your bedroom is dark and quiet.

3. Try acupuncture: Trial results suggest that most insomniacs could benefit from acupuncture. Effects can last up to 18 months.

4. Use earplugs: Noise is a common cause of sleep problems, and earplugs work in six out of 10 cases, according to research in Germany. If plugs don't work, try masking noise with soft music.

5. Use lavender: According to research in France, the aroma of lavender oil can be as effective as prescription tranquillisers. In a research study in London, an insomniac enjoyed her first complete night's sleep for four years after using aromatherapy oils. Lavender oil can be used in massage (around the temple region works great), 5-10 drops in the bath or in an oil burner.

6. Exercise: Researchers at Stanford University found that adults who took part in 16 weeks of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise significantly lessened their sleep problems. The best time to exercise is five to six hours before bedtime; and it should be strenuous enough to bring up a light sweat.

7. Take valerian: The most commonly used herb for severe insomnia, valerian acts as a sedative, making falling asleep easier, and allowing for deeper sleep cycles. Take it 30 minutes before going to bed.

8. Don't count sheep: In a study at Oxford University, 50 insomniacs were asked either to imagine a tranquil scene while trying to get to sleep, or to count sheep. The sheep-counters took up to 20 minutes longer to nod off, probably because they were bored.

9. Soak your feet: With a cup of Epsom salts mixed in warm water, soaking your feet for twenty minutes is a sure fire way to bring the blood to the feet. This calms the mind as it lowers the pressure felt in the head. This is also a useful curative measure to use in the case of headache.

10. Enjoy a cup of warm milk and honey: For bringing on sleep it’s an oldie but a goodie. That's probably the reason it's still around; it works a treat. If this is non-helpful to you, maybe an ancient Chinese remedy mixed with a bit of modern science will do the trick. Mix honey and chopped ginger with dried orange peel. Swallow it just before bedtime.

Till next time, rest well.

Brett J. In ancient China, when long fingernails were a mark of the wealthy, the Chinese drank a strong brew of seaweed to strengthen the fingernails and make them strong.

In the Orient, in particular Japan where the eating of seaweed is above average, goitre and other problems affecting the thyroid gland are almost unheard of. The reason for this is iodine. Kelp also has anti-fat benefits, so for those of us who burn calories so slowly that they gain weight even when they eat little, kelp improves the body’s metabolic rate, helping to increase the burning of calories.

As a storehouse of minerals considered vital for the body, kelp contains mannitol (a gentle, natural laxative and bile stimulant – bile is one, of the four digestive saliva’s) small amounts of lecithin, vitamin A, some of the B-complex vitamins, and vitamin C and E. Lecithin is known to be a fat emulsifier that aids in preventing and removing fatty deposits from the arteries.

And if the vital fires aren’t burning hot, remember the iodine seaweed contains? There is more than one way to use this precious element. If you are unfamiliar with the far reaching benefits of this precious element and how to use it to build a vibrant physical and vital body, I have condensed ancient food combinations, directions and exercises in a marvellous e-book that will truly fill your body, be you a man or woman, with zest.

May health and wealth be yours!

Brett J. Keeping it elevated throughout the day, the time came when she was losing poise and preparing to leave. As a contracted healer I have a greater responsibility for injured persons than most, so I offered my help. Not quite sure as to what I do or for that matter what I could do to help, her Spirit spoke loud (overshadowing all personality resistance) and said, "Yes, I would greatly appreciate help".

Damage in the ankle and calf there was. And much inflammation had congealed in the one area for over 5 weeks. What I did is of no matter (acupressure, ligament flexion and mental visualisation), what does matter was the questions I asked and the answers I received.

“When you first rolled your ankle did you apply ICE at 10-15 minute intervals for at least two hours?” Pained mother answered no. “Did you have this knowledge?” I asked. “Yes, I do, but I have a 5 year old daughter so I didn’t have the time!” You can imagine my astonishment. No freedom of movement and restricted to crutches 5 weeks later and still unable to really be there for the child, let alone have time for her.

Inflammation – which consists of heat, swelling, redness and pain – is the body’s normal, healthy reaction to almost every injury or invasion. However, inflammation when not properly dealt with in the first instance, can become chronic rather than shutting down, weeks or even months after the original injury has been dealt with.

Icing an injury as quickly as possible can save you weeks of time and lots of money if you cannot work due to the injury. Do you know what the elite sportsman do after any strenuous activity? Footballers, runners, tennis players, netballers – you name it – they either ICE their specific points of soreness, or better yet, they soak in a bath full of ice.

That’s right, ICE!

Cold water stimulates the blood (bringing much needed oxygen), the muscles, the nerves and the glands, increasing hormone production that has an overall stimulating effect on the body’s natural healing mechanism.

If you don’t have icepacks available, anything in the freezer will do. Many a packet of peas has been sacrificed for external healing of injuries. If you are doing strenuous work where you know there are no freezers (bush walking etc.), invest in crystal ice-packs. They're light weight and readily available at chemists and first-aid suppliers and they’re worth there weight in gold when injury comes a calling. Be a scout and be prepared.

Remember RICE...

                        Rest
                        Ice
                        Compression
                        Elevation

More on medicinal oils and remedies to come.

Brett J. Hydrogen - the way you hydrate
3. Nutrients - the way you nourish

A recent paper published in the Lancet said that researchers reviewed eight studies assessing the dietary habits and health of more than a quarter of a million people in Europe, Japan and the US. The studies found that five servings a day of fruit and vegies can reduce the risk of a stroke by more than a quarter.

Compared with individuals who ate less than three servings of fruit and vegetables a day, those who ate between three and five servings, had an 11% reduction in the incidence of stroke.

And this Haze-man is not surprised! The water content of fruit and vegetables is 100% hydrogen and oxygen. Consuming hydrogen rich foods maintains your body’s optimal pH levels and fruit and vegetables contain the potency of the seed that is waiting to spring forth life.

Get into it!

Brett J. This liquefied food is ultimately broken down into hydrogen and burned with oxygen to create the energy that powers the body. To increase your power reserves, obviously one must eat lots of hydrogen rich foods (fresh fruit and vegetables) and improve the way we breathe.

Many will profess that increasing your oxygen intake will only increase oxidisation, creating free-radicals. This is only true if the dietary intake is hydrogen deficient (you're not eating enough fresh fruit and vegetables) and the body is in a state of de-hydration (you're not drinking enough life-force rich water). If you're not doing these two actions regularly, you shouldn't be engaging in any physical or mental activity anyway.

Tri-Breath™ The Ultimate Fitness Technique will give your body the best chance to harness oxygen at a cellular level. So it’s vital we all understand that high acid levels in the body feed the bacteria’s that distribute poisonous substances through-out the bloodstream. This clogs the cells ability to absorb nutrients and oxygen, lowering the cells vitality and the cells ability to grow and even reproduce. If you multiply this cell sickness by the billions of cells in your body, you’ll begin to understand where many of your physical troubles begin, and where the countless names of illnesses have their root cause.

So while you’re in a scientific state of mind, how do you test your pH?

Simple! By using litmus paper found at your local chemist.

Take samples of your urine in a jar for a 24-hour period, then dip the strip of paper and compare the colour against the chart. The reason for all the samples over a 24-hour period is to get an average reading rather than a random reading that may or may not be accurate. You can also record a series of random tests and average out the readings.

More on how to alkaline your body coming up.

To your good health!

Brett J. Be it after digging a trench, massaging bodies, painting fences, working on a computer, writing a book. What is common with these and many more hand driven activities is fatigued and compressed muscles leading to sore hands.

Sore hands - sore bones! What to do?

Ever heard of hypericum, or what is commonly known as St John’s wort?

A couple of drops of 100% straight hypericum oil rubbed into the hands will give relief almost immediately (and its effects last). This is due to hypericum’s anti-inflammatory properties. This plant has other noted medicinal uses including the treatment of depression and antibacterial treatments.

Easily accessible, a 25ml bottle of hypericum costs less than lunch, will take less room in the office draw or the tool-box than a box of matches, and will be there to serve when you need.

Rub it into injuries and sprains and the only thing you have to lose is the pain. Breathe in for a slow 6 second count through your left nostril, gently pulling your breath down to the space around your stomach (the diaphragm) for the first 3 seconds, working your breath up to the space around your heart (your chest) for the remaining 3 seconds, as you silently count to yourself.

Hold your breath for a second or two, then place the tip of your left index finger on the outside of your nose and with your middle finger close your left nostril and gently breathe out through your right nostril for another 6 second count.

Keeping your left nostril closed, breathe in through the right nostril for 6 seconds and then swap sides to breathe out. The symptom of an aching head can be strong indicator that we are either mildly or severely dehydrated. A headache is generally a hot head that needs to be cooled down due to the body being short of H2O (water) and running hot.

If headaches are common for you or even for the one off, drink plenty of water with a pinch of unrefined rock salt or sea salt (sodium chloride) and try eating bananas before and after your workout. Bananas have a proven record of helping and alleviating sore heads and migraines.

There are two minerals that have prove most helpful with exercise induced headaches. These are Potassium Phosphate and Magnesium Phosphate.

Potassium Phosphate

Potassium helps regulate the water balance in the body. The condition of your feet has a definitive effect on the health of your body; including absorption, elimination, your metabolism, energy utilisation and simply how you feel. There’s is a reason for this.

It just so happens that located on the sole of your feet are reflex points (energy buttons) for all of the body’s inner and outer parts. In particular, there is a power-point located just around the tendon that rises up when you lift your big toe around the middle of the foot . This point relates to the kidneys.

The kidneys have numerous functions to perform in the body, with the most common and understood function being the filtering of waste products that are excreted in the urine. A not so well known function of the kidneys is to store and distribute spiritual energy, or ancestral chi. People don’t die of disease; people die because their batteries are flat. And the kidney's are like a big battery, powering your body.

So if you move with a "heavy foot", lighten up! A favourite positive affirmation I use when I walk or run is,

"I am as light, as a butterfly,
my feet barely touch the ground"

Regularly soaking your feet (and your body for that matter) in Epsom Salts will have a positive effect on how you feel. When you dry your feet off, rub some grape seed oil with a couple of drops of peppermint oil mixed in onto them.

Finish off by rolling your feet over a tennis ball for 10-20 minutes, making sure you get into all the sore points, then before you go to sleep, affirm to yourself how good you will feel in the morning. And as surely as Bobs your uncle, you will.

Look after your feet people and keep well.

Brett J. Leading cardiologists agree, that if everyone who reads this then tells 10 people, and those ten tell another ten ad infinitum, odds are we'll save someone.

So read this... it could be your life!!!

It's 7:47pm and it has been a big day, a confronting day! An unusually difficult day on the job you could say. You stretch out your arms to alleviate the tension in the shoulders (forgetting to breathe out as you extend your reach) and you suddenly start to experience severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arms and up into your jaw.

Am I having a heart attack?

You’ve been trained in CPR, but the teacher who taught the course, didn’t impart how to perform it on yourself. As many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, a person whose heart is beating improperly and through lack of oxygen begins to feel faint, has barely 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

The research discovered that people experiencing these symptoms of heart attack, could significantly improve their chances of survival by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

The deep breaths get the oxygen into the lungs and the coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm so you can call for help or you can get to a hospital.

So when you read this, share it with your friends! You don’t know whose life it could save.

Brett J. It also stimulates the stomach, gall bladder and small intestine meridians (energy channels), which as a result of this stimulation, has a beneficial and cumulative affect on your metabolic rate.

Choose a soft rug and as you go down to your knees, with your thumbs, pull your calf muscles out to the side and sit in the groove. If this hurts beyond your comfort level, put some pillows or cushioning between the back of your thighs and your calf muscles and bottom. Remember the idea is not to hurt yourself. Pain is the body’s way of telling you things are not working in harmony. So if this practice is extremely painful, you definitely need to do this after every meal.

With practice, harmony will be reintroduced as you tone your digestive system, and the need for support will decrease as your internal strength increases. As your internal strength increases, gently remove your support mechanism, i.e. your cushions.

In fact, how much it doesn’t create discomfort, will give you a real idea on how the practice of improving your digestive system and increasing your metabolic rate is working for you and paying you health dividends.

Eat for vitality people!

Brett J. It was called the aluminium saucepan. This new fangled cookware replaced the heavy yet full-of-health qualities cast iron pot. Years later it was found that we were getting quite forgetful, so technology answered the call and hey presto, we introduced the stainless steal saucepan.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

This was a huge money spinner for many. The stainless steel manufacturers and interestingly enough, the iron supplement industry. But alas, the humble iron pot was forgotten.

Iron is the great ship that carries nutrients throughout the body in the blood stream. When you use a cast iron pot, which are readily available from most disposal stores for around $20, cheap as chips, you not only receive a lovely cooked meal, you also receive colloidally suspended iron in the form of iron oxide, which is readily available to be absorbed in the small intestine.

For athletes, for pregnant women (this iron will not slow down or stop your bowel motions) and for anybody interested in good health and living in a vital body, a trip down memory lane will return much more than has been invested.

Eat with vitality in mind people, and yours in good health.

Brett J.
